Evelyn still hadn’t decided which group she would be leaving with, and they were almost ready to move out. With The Protectors was her sister, Marie. Marie knew how to take care of herself, but she was the only family Evelyn had left. But Derek was leaving with The Fighters. He was strong, but a little reckless. Derek and Evelyn were….well, they were something.

Going with The Fighters made the most sense to Evelyn. She was more of a front lines person anyway. It’s not like she would just be following Derek. Most of The Fighters already expected her to join them; and maybe she could keep the others from moving on without their other half. But if she couldn’t would she be able to carry on knowing that she left her sister behind?

Oh how she wished she could eternize the group and not have to carry this worry.

Derek approached and handed Evelyn her blaster. “Ready to go?” She stared at the weapon for a moment before grabbing it.

“Yeah, just a minute.” She replied. Derek returned to packing up his things as Evelyn waved over to her sister who quickly ran over. Evelyn gave Marie’s hand a small squeeze. “Be careful OK.”

“Of course, you know me. I’ll see you in a few days.” Marie ran back to her group as Evelyn waved goodbye to her back.
